'Jaiberas' is a documentary visual series examining the unique challenges faced by migrant workers, specifically a group of women who travel from Central Mexico to work in crab-picking houses on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The project aims to expose the persistent labor problems in temporary work programs in the United States. It also focuses on the bonds the women have forged to help each other navigate the challenges of daily life on a remote island, grappling with the impacts of climate change.

The project is a continuation of original reporting, and a series of articles by Jeff Barker and Thalia Juarez focused on the workers’ experiences published in The Baltimore Sun in 2019 and 2020.
